Voice receptionist: an AI phone agent that answers, books and hands off to a human

A voice agent that answers the phone for a business. It transcribes the caller in real time, works out what they want, finds and books a free slot in the calendar, answers in a natural voice and hands the call to a person when it should not decide alone.

Where this pattern fits

  • Clinics, salons and service businesses that miss calls after hours
  • Front desks that spend hours a day moving appointments
  • Any phone line that needs a clean handoff to a human
  • ElevenLabs
  • Deepgram
  • Twilio
  • FastAPI
  • Claude
